Sumbawa Island is the largest island in West Nusa Tenggara. Geographically and theorytically, Sumbawa Island is lying in a very strategic position. The island is bordered by the Alas Strait to the west (Lombok Island), the Sape Strait to the east (Komodo Island), the Indian Ocean to the south and the Flores Sea to the north. Sumbawa Island consists of 4 regencies, namely Sumbawa Regency with its capital in Sumbawa Besar; West Sumbawa Regency has its capital in Taliwang; Dompu Regency has a capital in Dompu and Bima Regency has a capital in Bima and 1 city is Bima City.

Sumbawa Island has an area about ​​14,386 km2. Sumbawa Island also has a volcano that it is still active today, namely Mount Tambora above the sea level (2,824 m). In addition, Sumbawa also has its own uniqueness, Bungin Island, Alas District is recorded as the most populous island in the world with a density of 15,000 people / km2. And this unique of this buffalo racing it is not just a ceremonial events but the most important things during this events you will be challenged that in the middle of rice field there is one stick that will be placed or planted by a magic man and before you enter your racing you should bring in your buffalo to surround that stick about 5 times to avoid bad luck and you will feel always be lucky and you could win the race easily. So during the sacred process, you cannot enter the rice field until the planted stick without having any permission from that magic man (hit the Saka).

Sumbawa as an integrated part in Sumbawa Island has a natural panorama that is equally interesting. Sumbawa has various forms of enchanting landscapes, interesting places, various kinds of tourism and cultural activities to be offered to tourists. Most of the terrain is tropical mountainous mountains with a temperature range of 20.4 - 35 degrees Celsius. By the sea harbour, Sumbawa can be passed through the Poto Tano Ferry Port that takes you Kayangan Port to the west, Badas Harbour in Badas Bay and Sape Bima Port to serve  the east.
